WORKGROUP <00> - <GROUP> B <ACTIVE>
W1Z6Y0 <03> - B <ACTIVE>

#smbclient -L W1Z6Y0 -I 24.232.xx.xx
added interface ip=24.232.xx.xx bcast=24.232.yy.yy nmask=255.255.255.0
session request to W1Z6Y0 failed (Called name not present)
session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present)

what exactly you are tying to do??

Say I have a machine name BOSS with sharename DATA and username/password is valid user on windoz box.

# smbclient //BOSS/DATA -U username

enter password on prompt (or use -U username%password)

for domain users use this too : -W domain_name
for un-resolved host use this too : -I ip_address
