Connection Sharing on red hat 9


how the hell can i share internet connection in Red hat 9.
i know nat
but how.
i know it's a little diff from other ver's.
plz help me out , i'm going nuts , i dont wanna use Squid to share internet

First, make sure your network cards are configured correctly.

Just to add, I posted in that link too and after puzzling over why the person trying it had no success I retried it myself and the GATEWAYDEV bit should be ignored.

1) Point your machines to the linux box as their gateway.

2) Configure your external interface (eth0) for the wan side (ISP IP).

3) Configure eth1 for the internal network (gateway ip).

4) Add your ISP's DNS server to resolv.conf.

5) Add the line:

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

to a boot script to be implemented on boot. Viola, you're done.
