I am using Mandrake 9.1 and need to print off the printer on my Win 98 notebook in the front office. It's a brother MFC-9600 connected directly to the notebook. When XP was installed it automatically saw the printer and used it. I tried going into the Mandrake Console and setting up the printer but had a hard time as it couldn't auto detect it. I then mounted the folder PRINTER$ in LinNeighborhood and was able to direct it to that folder but it still won't print a test page. Any ideas what I need to do to share the printer?

and make sure you have shared your printer in xp,

then take a look at how-tos on
the linux documentation project and samba's website


i hope this helps, i am sorry i dont do enough printing to assist you further with this but the how-tos are really good when it come to samba in my experience

Try going into your home directory. One the left hand side of konqueror there should be a star icon on a tab. Go into there and go into print manager. First make sure you are using cups (none of the others seem to work for me) and there is a star in the far upper left hand corner that says somthing like 'add a printer' and follow the wizard.
