Browsing slow with mozilla, not konq

Hi... I updated a few things a couple of weeks ago (through portage in gentoo) and since then, web browsing has been fine for the most part, except a few websites (inc. forums.speedguide.net and this forums too), which are unbelievably slow. Other computers networked in the house don't have these issues and I ran Konqeror (eugghhh) to test and the pages loaded fine.

Thinking it was my mozilla update from 1.7 to 1.7.2 - I deleted the local mozilla dir and re-installed 1.7. This hasn't fixed the problem. Unfortunately, I now can't remember everything that I updated so backtracking won't be easy. I was hoping someone here would have an idea of what could possibly cause this problem.

I thought of Java, but I checked and I'm sure I didn't update that. I'm lost and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
