2 groups work in one directory.


We have 2 groups admin and td which work in one directory, but when for exaple the admin saves a file to the directory the td can't. change the file anymore. the other way the same thing.

can someone help me with this problem?

Not really a networking problem but anyway...

You need a third group which all the admin and td people are members of. Make the group owner of the directory and files the third group.

This isn't a fantastic solution. There other options which might be available to you such as ACLs (Access Control Lists) but I would stick with basic groups for now if I were you.

setgid on that directory!

ppuru is correct use cmd chmod g+s <dir> . For every file and dir created under this dir will have the same group for both. If u want to take it a step futher that does not allow anyone to delete files or dirs except owner of the group ot root then use sticky bit cmd to be used chmod o+t <dir>.
