File and directory permissions or groups


On SUSE 9.3 when I open the permissions of a directory or file, there are two boxes down at the bottom, one is the owner (usually adam for myself) and then there is "group", and I have no idea what to put in there. I want these directories and or pages to show up on the web, do i leave it blank, or do I have to make a new group, if so with what permissions and how?

You need to learn more about users/groups permissions. Check out Linux tutorials for these are essential concepts of Linux. Try Google Linux Search.
