Unhappy Problem with playback of recorded videos

A few days ago, I barely knew what Linux was. But when I installed Linux Mint, Most of the stuff was wonderful; It was not the case of screen recording.

I first wanted to record with OBS, using pretty good quality and with MP4 as output format. I recorded what I wanted to record, but when I saw the recording, there were black flashings in different parts of the screen, and the interface also dissappeared and re-appeared like in flashings.

"Strange" I said. So, I used much lower quality and MKV as output format. I had the same result.

"Then the software is wrong" I thought. So I installed Simple Screen Recorder. Tried with all the different settings, but, even if it was much less glitchy, I was still getting the same glitches.

So I tried with Kazam. No different results.

"It must be the media player" I said. So, I tried with VLC, and even with YouTube, but there was no difference.

I uploaded an example glitched recording to YouTube, you can see it by going here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG6uCfr6TxY

I will also leave the message that the terminal sent me after writing the command Inxi-Fxzd:

Hello,

welcome to the forums and to Linux.

One thing, that comes into my mind are the codecs. Have you made sure, that they are all installed and up to date?

Unlike, for example that proprietary OS, in Linux you install everything in components or packages. Just because you install - let's say VLC, does not mean that you also get all the codecs installed. You could even install just the codecs, without the player. So, I recommend that you make sure that your software is up to date and also run your software manager and search for codecs, such as vlc-codec. You might have to add a community repository, such as packman for openSUSE or metaverse in Ubuntu, to get full access to those codes, as many of them (including mp4) are proprietary software, that is not pre-installed on many distros, but has to be added manually.

Since the issue occurs with different players, it is fairly clear, that it is not a player issue.

Hi and welcome to Linux mint 18 I use mate version on this laptop.

I think this will help you install what you need if this is the OBS you are looking for.

I recently had some significant issues w/ screen tearing when using recordmydesktop (what I'd always used before without issue). Tried OBD, same issue. Tried Kazam, it worked flawlessly... so that's where I am at now.

Double checking ffmpeg would be the first course of action I would think.
