Question Play videos recorded on NVR (Network Video Recorder) through VLC player.

I have Hikvision NVR.
Model no. : DS-9632NI-ST

And it is recording and storing camera footage. So what is want to do is, to play videos (from a specified time) stored on this NVR through VLC Player on a Linux computer which is in the same network as NVR.

Though I can play these videos by logging on to the NVR IP address.

But it is not efficient way for my problem. I really need to play videos on VLC.

I want to play video recorded on NVR. I dont want to get Live Stream of Camera using rtsp protocol.

We can see your statement. It is not clear what you want us to do about this. To buy the same unit so we can read the manual?

Then you need to access the storage. It may have ssh access or other ways to enable you to get to this data.

I kind of doubt it will open in network by default but you can try it. Usually these things are embedded linux and may not have full external control. It would be wise of them to leave it closed as anyone could access it if it were open.

Actually I did some search for manual, couldn't find it. But I found some information about using external NAS for recordings. If this is true then the problem is solved. I still resent OP's unwillingness to do homework.
