thinkpad t20 lan setup


please can someone tell me how to configure an internet connection through a lan on a thinkpad T20 running slackware 8.1?

Slack 8.1 didn't come with hotplugging and the network probe didn't work very well. First, what's the card, post back with the "Ethernet Controller" under /sbin/lspci
