Suse 9.2 and IBM Thinkpad T20

So I am trying to install suse on the ibm thinkpad t-20. Everything seems to have gone perfectly fine with this installtion , except the network card. It seems to recognize a net work card which does not work on configuration. I have googled for the answer but in vain. I found out that if the network card is not installed correctly the system freezes etc , which was happening to my system until i remved the confiurtation of the network card from yast. after that system runs perfectly but i still need the network card to work. Please let me know if yuou guys have any thougths in this matter.
