Unhappy System can not play sound

Hi, I am a mint user. yesterday i set up Linux mint 9 (Isadora) in my new HP Pavilion G4 laptop. But there is a problem in my sound. My system can not play sound but the Mp3s/Videos are playing swiftly. There is no model number specified in my laptop so i don't recognised what is the serial or model it is. Please tell me how can i configure my sound. I have tries in many ways to play sound but nothing happened.

Please share the output of 'lspci' ... We just have to identify your sound card, load the correct kernel module, set it to load on boot from here on out, and then get reasonable mixer settings saved.

Since the laptop is new you may have issues with Mint 9 as it is quite old at this time. You may wish to try Mint 14, the newest version. Many times old versions of an OS will not work with newer hardware.
