Although it will use these tools (GParted is the way enables ntfsresize use, you do not manually call it), I personally prefer to use the Windows partition management, shrink the Windows partition.

While true it is better to use windows disk management tools it does limit you to being able to only resize upto half of it's size, if more space is required beyond that you will have to use another partitioner to resize.
