Has anyone managed to install any Linux distro on SONY VAIO machines??
Did you need any special drivers, and did you manage to find those?
Thx in advance..
i have a sony vaio pcvr545ds (an 8 year old desktop) and i am currently trying to install fedora core 3 on it.
mr vaio has an intel 810 chipset (direct agp).
fedora installed alright - i have a few problems, but there is only one that is making it unusable at this point.
any 'window' that i try to open with either kde or gnome is absolutely 'transparent'. i can see the outline of the window; and if my cursor drags over a 'button', it will make that button visible - but other than that, all i see is desktop.
if anyone has any suggestions - i could definately use them; thank you.
I just bought the Sony Vaio FZ180E/B, installed OpenSuse, it did not work! Move to Mandriva, and it did better. The problem with this lap is the video card, Nvidia is not supporting the GeForce Go 8400 due to the fact that this video card has so many features.
