Im one of those users that jumps between OS's. I decided I would give Linux a try again...
Tried this in Ubuntu 10.10, and now running FC14. The issue was the same for both.
The 6515B has an ATI X1250 Graphics Card. I like to connect my laptop to the TV using the s-video out so I can watch netflix, etc.
However, in either breed of Linux that I have tried, the output is black & white. Laptop monitor stays in color just fine.
Code:
lspci | grep -i vga
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series]
So I read somewhere to edit something to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. But I cant seem to find that anywhere. Oh well, lets try proprietary ATI drivers.
Unfortunately, the X1250 is now considered a legacy device. Had to download the ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run file from ATI's website. Made it executable and tried to run in. Final output?
Code:
which: no XFree86 in (/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/home/xxxx/bin)
Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version
default:v2:x86_64:lib::none:2.6.35.11-83.fc14.x86_64; make sure that the version is being
correctly set by --iscurrentdistro
Removing temporary directory: fglrx-install.ZxZaA0
So. Now Im lost. Ideas?
