I've been trying to activate the function keys in my sony vaio sz-430n/b but the information I've found online it's kind of confusing to me. When I press the fn key and look into /var/log/acpi this is the message I get:
Quote:

so the question is, how do i get acpi to map the event correcly? should i create the brightness file so this process can go through??? If i do that i have another problem, the brightness file maps to sppicctrl, when i try this command alone in my terminal I get nothing. I did
spicctrl -b 0
spicctrl -b 255
and I couldn't see any difference. I also tried the fan speed and other things and they work, but not the brightness.
I have a nvidia 7400 with the 100.14 new driver from nvidia. I look at nvidia-setting and couldn't see anything to change the brightness either. So I'm running out of ideas. I was looking at the sonypi module that was installed but I don't really know what it's there for if acpi maps the hotkeys directly. Can anyone help me out here please? thanks.
