nc1502, sound this time

I installed the ALSA drivers and I have good sound from my laptop speaker. However when I plug into the audio jack "not Mic" with "good" headphones there is no sound and the audio from the speaker quits. I'm thinking maybe the jack output is software controlled rather than wired???

run "alsamixer" and unmute the headphones
use "alsactl store" to save the settings

chrisoritz I tried it and it didn't work. I have volume control for both headphones and speaker. If I turn either one up or down the speaker volume goes up or down. Its almost like the the headphones are bad but I check them and they are good.

I had too many USB issues with Knoppix so I installed Debian 40r0 and its works great, no USB drive issue, no camera issue, no media player issues. The only problem is still the sound. With Knoppix I had good volume, but with Debian the sound is very low. Also the the stupid audio jack still doesn't work. with Knoppix I had I had a lot of options I think it was "alsamixer" I would see the channels and mute option, I don't have that under Debian. I think there must be a driver difference between the too? Anyone???
