I have a Dell Latitude 10 ST2 tablet, running intel Atom processor, 2GB RAM and 128 GB SSD, and also has the touch screen capability.
It is currently running Windows 8.1 Pro, which as anyone can imagine, can get quite slow and frustrating at times.
Can anyone recommend a current Linux distro that would support touch capability and also have LXDE, Mate or Cinammon Desktop? Any suggestions would be appreciated...
I have a Dell XT2 with dual core and Touchscreen (pen type) and 180 gig ssd, 3 gig of ram.
I made a Linux Lite 2.0, 8 gig pny persistent live usb, to run on it while I waited
for my 180gig OCZ 1.8 incher mini sata interface drive to come in.
Cursor on the screen accepts inputs from my finger. Everthing else works OK out of the box also.
Touchpad, Sound,Wifi, etc.......
Just my experiences for a reference for you.
You might want to check into using MX-14 also. Make a live pendrive with unetbootin in windows 8 and test drive.
I do not run Windows on my Dell XT2. It is a Linux dedicated only touchscreen netbook.
Sorry I did not recommend the desktops you asked for. Both of my statements have to do with XFCE Desktop enviornment.
Mint 7 Mate might be a good choice for that or Lubuntu or Sparky Linux or LXLE.
Did you ever get this working? If so, which distro did you use? Im trying to install on my ST2 a distro compatible with openVAS so I am limited to the list below but nothing I have tried works.
I cannot get the ST2 to boot from USB no matter what I try. I have tried countless USB creator tools, and different distros. On a tablet where I can disable UEFI the USBs boot up fine.
One interesting thing I found with Rufus is that when I set the partition system type to GPT Partition I get an error stating that my ISO isn't compatible with EFI, but I can't seem to find one that states its compatible with UEFI. Any ideas?
Not too Old,(I hope?), maybe a beer too many when I posted that. Linux-Lite 2.0 with 3.17 kernel has been
rock solid on my Dell XT-2. Though tonight I am posting on my ancient
I apologize, but I am new to all of this and Linux in general, would you guys happen to know how to install openVAS on one of the distros you recommended?
These are the steps to install on openSUSE 12.3
Step 1: Configure OBS Repository
(as user root, only once, you can replace "12.3" with other release names)
zypper ref && zypper in -t pattern openvas
Step 3: Quick-Start OpenVAS
(as user root, only once, during first time you will be asked to set a password for user "admin")

No matter what I try, I keep getting "No bootable devices" when I try to boot from my USB. The same USB boots up in my laptop and lenovo ultrabook tablet. I have tried debian 7.6 and ubuntu 14.10.
What USB creator should I be using to build the bootable USB? (I have tried 5 or 6 different ones)

Start your own thread. This one has rolled off topic enough.
Hint. your issue sounds like a UEFI issue.
That is all I am going to say on that.
