Linux 2.6 touchpad double-tap-and-hold etc

Hi,

How can i get my touchpad to work along with all of its 'features', e.g. the double-tap-and-hold. I'm guessing there's some driver to handle this, so far I only came across Synaptics, unfortunately my touchpad is _NOT_ a Synaptics one, it's an ALPS device.

Any drivers for this ALPS thingy?

Thanks for any help at all.

I tried in the past to look for an ALPS driver as I have one myself and couldn't find one.

Did you try the synaptics driver at all? There's some documentation that comes with the driver itself that explains some things if you're using ALPS and there's some info on the net about tweaking for an ALPS touchpad.

With that being said, my ALPS touchpad works perfectly fine with the synaptics driver without any tweaking whatsoever. Your mileage may vary.

EDIT: You'll also have to set up your xorg.conf and make sure you have the evdev kernel module loaded. The xorg.conf can get a little tricky but you can get some info on it and get going. There are also a couple of programs out there that help you with tweaking xorg.conf for things like tap latency and pointer acceleration, etc. Let us know how you made out... I don't think you'll have many problems.
