Keyboard Problem - Double Tap Apostrophe

I have used Mandrake 10.1, SuSE v9.2 and Mandriva 2005 LE. With the 2 Mandrake distros for some reason I need to tap the apostrophe key twice for the apostrophe to appear. Yet in all 3 instances I am using the US International keyboard. I am using South Africa settings where I can. What would cause this behaviour with Mandrake/Mandriva?

Changed the keyboard to a "normal" US Keyboard and no issues since. Suppose I need to stop thinking that something works in a certain way in Windows and as such Linux should be the same. Strange though that SuSE and Mandriva are also different on the matter.
