If you are using firefox 1.0.X and Debian

Add the following to your sources.list

# Blackdown Java
deb ftp://sunsite.dk/mirrors/java-linux/debian/ sid non-fre

Replace "sid" with the name of the release you are using. It may not work with "testing", "stable" or "unstable". It needs the name.

then type

apt-get update

apt-get install j2re1.4 j2re1.4-mozilla-plugin

It should work.

If you are using firefox 1.5, the above probably won't work. They changed something with 1.5. My java worked great until I upgraded to 1.5 last night. :-(

Yes, sid has a deb. It is named firefox instead of mozilla-firefox.

I saw someone on the web had it so I found it with

apt-cache search firefox

It has a few quirks though. Doesn't remeber my password for linuxquestions. 1.0.7 did.
