Hello group. I just recently complete an install to my HP Pavilion DV6225 Entertainment Laptop. I have not been this excited scince I first installed Windows 3.1 on an old PC I had running DOS. Yes I am that old, and yes it took me awhile to decide to try linux out. Thanks to a good freind nudging me to try it out and plenty of research on the Web I was able to get Fedora Core 6 loaded and running last night.
I still need to edit GRUB to increase the time alloted to make a choice and to add a couple of parameters to my Linux startup.

The only way I could get Fedora to run the GUI was to add:
"noapic iommu=off" to the kernel parameters .... guess I should look those up to see what they do and see if I can get around entering those.

I had to deal with Fedora thinking my display was a CRT monitor and locking up when trying to load the GUI

well enough for now, I am sure I will be back to ask more questions but right now I have a book to review and many websites to look over.
