I was planning to buy an IBM ThinkPad R40(Pentium-M 1.5Ghz, 256MB RAM) and was wondering how easy would it be to get RH9 running on this machine? Are there any major problems? Any display incompatibilities(it uses an ATI Radeon)?
I would be extremely grateful if someone could help me out.
If TP R40 use ATI Radeon M7 or lower version, as far as I know, there is no problem in compatibility.
My laptop is T30 (2366-92U) which uses Radeon M7. It works great with RH9 and Mandrake 9.1 except one . The problem is posted at following address. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...832#post579832
I have an IBM R32 and RH9 works great with that too. Only prob is that when you close the lid, sometimes, the machine will hang. If you go into the BIOS and change the Intel Speedtouch setting to AUTO this may help. Otherwise, set the AC setting to MAX and the Batt to AUTO.
