HP DV9705, Dell XPS laptops and Linux known issues
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a laptop at the moment the choice is between Hewlett Packard DV9705 and Dell XPS M1330/MP1430. I will be using Linux(i haven't decided on which distro yet though Ubuntu has been recommended to me by a number of people. My questions are:
(1) are there any know issues installing/using Linux on the laptops mentioned above ?
(2) is it difficult to install Linux when Windows Vista is preinstalled on the laptop?
Dell actually offers the XPS M1330 with the latest version of Ubuntu pre-installed. We've tested it and certified it and therefore have hopefully found and taken care of any major, and especially known issues a user might come across when installing it themselves. We've also added DVD playback capability out of the box, something that isn't automatically included when installing a Linux distribution on your own.
