Linux and Dell XPS Laptop
Has anyone installed Red Hat or Fedora on the Dell XPS laptop. Any hardware problems? I am thinking about purchasing one for mobile gaming but it must also run red hat or fedora fine. Thanks

check up on hardware support. If it all checks out you are okay. You really need to do this with laptops as hardware for laptops is a lot more dynamic than that of desktop pcs.

The most important spec to consult is the wireless chipset. Dell tends to favor Broadcom.
Any distro, such as Slackware, that does not do Broadcom automatically will require some extra work. Distros that include Broadcom support, such as Ubuntu, do splendidly out-of-box.
Other than that, I have never had an issue with Linux on any Dell, and I've had three desktops, two laptops, and one netbook running Ubuntu, Debian, and Slackware.
