Please use descriptive thread titles in future. You're advised about this when you post a new thread :/. The mount man page gives some info about what mounting is:
Quote:
All files accessible in a Unix system are arranged in one big tree, the file hierarchy, rooted at /. These files can be spread out over several devices. The mount command serves to attach the file system found on some device to the big file tree. Conversely, the umount(8) command will detach it again.

Check the file fstab (in /etc) to see if there's an entry with /dev/cdrom in it. If there is, you should just be able to mount it with "mount /dev/cdrom" (as root). The second column will tell you the mount point, i.e. where it's mounted. My line looks like this:
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,owner,ro,users 0 0
So after issuing "mount /dev/cdrom", I can navigate to /mnt/cdrom and find the files there.
Edit: about your sound card: what kind of hardware is it?
