Have STX Linux installed on Tecra 500CDT, but no GUI
Hi, I installed STX Linux by swapping the hard drive into another laptop then installing it on that, since my Tecra cannot boot from the CD and the CD drive is too old to read CD-Rs correctly, so I can't use loadlin. I got it installed, but when it tries to load the X Window system, it goes to a black screen, then back to the console, then back to the black screen, then the console, over and over. I'm a Linux noob, so I don't really know what to do. I think it might be because it configured linux for the graphics chipset of the other laptop, and now it's freaking out because the two are completely different. Is there a way I can configure X from the console? (preferably in something like xf86config, I'd rather not dive into editing config files just yet) Also, does anyone know if the Tecra 500CDT can boot from a parallel CD-ROM drive? Thanks.
