Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

logitech quickcam communicate STX and Mandrake 10.0

I am trying to connect a logitech quickcam communicate STX to my computer running Mandrake 10.0 with kernel 2.6.3-7mdk. The output of lsusb for this device is:

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 046d:08ad Logitech, Inc.

All roads seem to lead to the spca5xx driver, found at http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html; however, the documentation with that driver expressly disclaims support for the 2.6.3 kernel and, sure enough, it wouldn't compile when I tried to build the driver.

Has anyone succeeded in making this camera work with kernel 2.6.3? If so, what drivers did you use and how did you do it?

Thanks in advance.
