Chiros Sigmatel MSCN STMP3500 MP3 Player needs firmware BADLY!!!!!
I have two identical mp3 players made by some reclusive company called CHIROS. I was messing with one and broke it. I have been messing with this player long enough to be throughly certain that it is the firmware that is the problem. I would like to install the firmware from the working one onto the broken one. The firmware on disks that came with the mp3 players is the wrong firmware. I would download the firmware from the internet, but after a few days of exhausting research it is nowhere to be found. I've tried multiple times to install many different types of firmware. Most of the programs that can be found to load sigmatel firmware do not work. The one program that does work comes with the wrong firmware and even taking the other firmware from the other programs available and loading them with the program that does work is no use because every available firmware that I have been able to find is the wrong firmware except for the firmware that is on the other mp3 player. JimC's Sigmatel Firmware Extractor for Windoze doesn't extract all of the necessary firmware files. Is there some kind of solution to my problem? I am more comfortable with linux than I am with windoze, but I am certainly not a hacker. However I do learn quickly. I will fix ths mp3 player if it kills me.
It is a 2GB player.
It has a sigmatel STMP3500 chipset (3507 to be exact)
It has an FM tuner, mic, and so on.
It even has an (approx.) 1.5 inch color lcd screen.
Since you can't locate the firmware on the 'net IMHO "JimC's Sigmatel Firmware Extractor for Wintendo" seems your best bet. Did you try contacting him to work out fixing the app?
The correct firmware can be found in the cd provided, but is in a subfolder content in last folder, but must be copied to hard drive and renamed this foder before install, because is in japanese caracter..
