how to make a .mp3-player an .ogg-player? firmware available

due to some trouble with my suse 10.0 multimediaupdate* i can't (de-) compress or listen to .mp3-files on my computer. i still have a lot that i could copy on my .mp3-player, a "dnt sporty5 adventure". but i do fancy the idea to exclusively listen to .ogg-compressed music both on my computer (which is a must right now) and my .mp3-player.

is that possible? if so, how? firmware is available, but i have no idea what to do with it...

best regards
your hopeful ungua

It's certainly possible to play mp3 files without changing the firmware on anything. I do it all the time. I used SuSE previously, but use Mandriva now. You will probably have to download some codecs or libraries. I'm not much help except to let you know what you want is possble. I would search the forum here for "mp3 problem" or something like that.

Good luck,

Jim

thank you! but the mp3-problem is limited to my computer, the firmware concerns the mp3-player which i want to play ogg-files. about the multimedia-problem: amarok and similar are able to play those files with the correct codecs, but it's those that i cannot install for mysterious reasons.

regards
