Cant get BD drive to be recognized in Fedora

Hey,
I HAVE A SONY VGN-FZ180E LAPTOP AND I'M TRYING TO INSTALL FEDORA 7 ON AN EXTERNAL DRIVE, WHEN DO A TEXT ONLY INSTALL ANACONDA DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE BD DRIVE DRIVE. THE BD DRIVE IS A MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ-220S ATA DEVICE. IN WINDOWS I TRIED TO LOOK UP THE DRIVER NAME BUT IT ONLY SAYS A GENERAL CD-ROM DRIVER. DOES FEDORA HAVE DRIVERS FOR A BD DRIVE OR GENERAL DRIVERS JUST TO GET THE DVD TO WORK.

You should try a newer kernel. I'm assuming Fedora 7 doesn't use a recent one. Try 2.6.27.

PS: ENTIRE POSTS ALL IN CAPS ARE BAD MMKAY?

edit: about as bad as not reading a post thoroughly before replying to it... Try installing Fedora 8, 9 or 10 instead. The newer the distro/kernel, the better the chances of your device being recognized.

It means OK. It's not easy to hold back the "mmkay" when you say "such and such is bad..." Google has all kinds of more info on mmkay's etymology.

Good luck with Fedora 10, I hope it works out for you.
