I know right? When I purchased this laptop I was under the impression that it was going to be an Intel graphics card, which would have been simple to get going. Oh well, Ubuntu is absolutly amazing, I heard a lot of hype about it be just passed it as fluff... boy was I wrong.

By the way, I don't know if you have or haven't got shared memory enabled on the ATI card, but apparantly that's kind of important.

This may sound lazy but since I haven't managed what you say you have (namely getting direct rendering with the ATI driver) could you just tell me what package name you used with apt-get, and more importantly, form which url (to put in the apt sources.list).
Thanks

I think I have an idea with the shared memory, and well, my ram showes up a few megs shy of the 512 that I have. However, would u mind to run that by me just incase? It may be useful since I am having problems running counter strike, the game works but runs like (edit poopoo.
