Hi,
I'm pretty new with Linux, I have some lil knowladge on it, but Im trying to install it on my laptop, and im cant get to wrk my Wireless Integrated Card... I have a Broadcom Corporation NetExtreme BCM5702X Gigabit Ethernet ...
Is there any way to update linux drivers or fix this problem ..
I would really apreciate it...
And I apologize if the question has been made b4, coulnd't find any info!!!
I forgot to mention, Running Latest Version Of Fedora!!!
Thanks Again.
Nemo
First thing to do is boot your computer with Knoppix and see if it works then. Be sure to try the 2.6 kernel AND the 2.4 kernel. If knoppix cant get it working then it is either WAY to old for PnP and Knoppix cant detect it or it isnt supported. Might i suggest SuSe for newbie Linux users?
My personal favorite, that i have always used, is Debian. Debian requires ALOT of knowhow and i spent much time in google as a newbie trying to get it to work. Runs faster then ano other distrib that i have ever used cept Gentoo. If you dont know command line dont even consider Debian. However, if you feel like taking on a challenge, Debian's package management is FAR superior to .rpm files.
:s I apologize, I have a Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 3A Min ... for some reason Fedora gave me the other name, but I have booted into windows and checked ...
Lets say I could find a packet to fix my Wireless card... how would I install it. ?
I'm donwloading SuSe, at this moment and will be trying it ? should I try the Live CD first ? I've heard Knopix has a new release with Wireless support. Do you no anything about it ?
Thank You Very Much for your help!

I have found a package in for my Wireless card in Gentoo.Org, would that Package work with any other Linux { Fedora, SuSe, Knopix } or just in Gentoo ?
If you cannot find a driver for your wireless card see if ndiswrapper supports your card and install that (google for ndiswrapper). My wireless card (Netgear MA521) isn't supported by linux, and I used the WinXP driver with ndiswrapper, and everything works fine on FC3.
I haveinstalled the drivers from the link I gave b4.. I can see under NEtwork Configuration [ HardWare ] that my Wireless network card its been installed .... But when I go to the Device it only shows the Ethernet card!!! .. how do I activate it ?... When Click NEW and try to add the Wireless Device it doesnt show my network card under the list !!! ..
I have installed SuSe, it seems that it supports my Wireless network card... buti Still have aproblem :S .. i cant get online...
when i go into my other pc and check the DHCP Active IP Table I shows that the laptop is on the network. but I cant get it to go online.. :S ..
any idea ?
Keep trying as it sounds like you are almost there. I managed to get my USB wireless connection to work under SUSE 9.1 just using YaST. Just work through each of the wireless settings and make sure everything is configured ok.
I found it helpful to setup without using any security options on the router and then added that once I had the unsecured connection working (that's a good wireless troubleshooting tip regardless).
;0) .. Thanks for the Tip
Now im running SuSe Im in love with linux, Im pretty good working in Windows Networking, Web-Design and stuff.. but never worked with Linux B4, I've been all day playing with this computer in SuSe .. and I LOVE IT ..
But any ways . in SuSe i can see my wireless network card under the YasT Control Center.. and I have configure it all as it should be ... I unpluged my ethernet and rebooted but it doesn't get online .. .. any idea ?
can anyone tell me what command could I use to check if the wireless card is Active and running ?
I think it is , because when I used to but up the computer There was something in RED about the Wireless Card.. but now it comes up in green :S ..
Any idea ?
By the way, now my Ethernet Card got Screwed to :S ..
I dont know wuts wrong now with my Ethernet Net.Card.. some how it got screwed up, I deleted them both and add the ethernet again I can get into the network and acces my share files from my windows machine, but I cant get to the internet :S .. i get the folowing msg
