widescreen laptop - howto right resolution?

I just bought a new Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Computer. It got intel inside all over from nettwork to graphics adapter (gma900 or something). After installing Ubuntu I looked at the xorg.conf file, witch displaid 1280x768. But i still get 1024x768. Is there someone who please can help me get this sorted out?

You might neet to use a program called 915resolution. The Intel graphics drivers are written such that they only support what the video bios tells it to. 915resolution allows you to create a new, temporary entry in the video bios.

You are right. Found out my self. Intel plans to incorporate it in future releases of their driver I think. Thanks anyway.

I had loads of trouble with my Intel 915GM. Spent like 2 days trying to get 3D accelleration to work correctly, and it had this same resolution problem (except mine would not do 1280x800.) If you have trouble getting 3D accelleration working, try compiling all the graphics junk as modules, including the intel_agp driver. For some reason it doesn't like that to be hard coded into the kernel... Xorg would never start if it was.
