why my eth0 changed mac every time I reboot to FE:FF:FF and so on


I just installed core 7 and my Ethernet PCI keeps changing mac when reboot to FE:FF:FF:FF and so on....

I can't change it back....try but at boot goes back, I changed PCI SLOT and work fine then when I reboot to see if it'll stay there, it won't it changed to FE:FF:FF:FF:FF and so on...


what is the problem guys?

would like how to solved this?


it worked before!!!!!!!!!!

Usually the mac address is hard coded in the card's chip and can not be changed. Software however, can spoof the mac address (change what's being broadcasted to mask one's identity), macchanger for instance. Maybe you have a "designed for Linux" virus.

agreed but where do I start looking to try to solve this problem. And don't quick solution like BUY A NEW ONE when I know it works just few hrs ago with others distros....


may be some here had similar issues and found a way to solved this problem and perhaps wants to share to the rest of us newbees..
