changed mac address, now FC3 can't detect it

i changed the mac address using " ifconfig eth0 hw ether xxxxxxxx" , checked ifconfig eth0 and verified the mac change. i thought the change is not permenant, but at rebooting, FC3 couldn't activate eth0 card and reported a different mac address error message and it ignored it. eth0 is a bulit-in card and i don't know its real address. is there a file that i can get its real address and changed it back so to eliminate the address conflict? thanks in advance

First login as root and do the following. Run the command ' /sbin/ifdown eth0 ' just incase it is up. Then you need to look at the following file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. Edit it and remove the line starting with HWADDR I believe. Then do a ' /sbin/ifup eth0 '. Now you can run the command ' ifconfig eth0 ' to see if the old mac has returned. May require a reboot after editing the file and before bringing eth0 back up.
