weird drive/partition names

I have a sata drive and instead of /dev/sda the drive is located at /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target0/lun0/disc

is there any way to change it this back to /dev/sda? First of all it's annoying to type all of that for partitions and drives, but when i run the /sbin/lilo command, it doesnt accept /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 for the boot partition. thank you.

Turn off devfsd by passing devfs=unmount or was it devfsd=unmount. Though you will have to make a lot of nodes in the /dev directory to make Linux work if you turn off devfsd.
