Question Turtle Beach Santa Cruz snd

Does anyone know of any driver that fully supports the Santa Cruz sound card? The card works fine, but sound is only put out through my front 2 speakers. I've checked out the OSS (www.opensound.com) driver that supposedly supports the Santa Cruz and 5.1 but I think its a bit ridiculous to have to pay $20 for a driver. Anyone who has had any experience with Linux and a Santa Cruz card your comments are much appreciated.

Hmmmm... Have you tried searching for a driver on linuxhardware.net and sourceforge.net? Especially on SF, there's been a recent outburst of OpenSource drivers for hardware that doesn't have Linux support...

I only found info for 2 of the Santa Cruz cars in the kernel config. I went looking because I've got a Guillemot card that uses a C-media chipset that can come with jacks enough for 2,4,8,16 speakers, so I thought maybe you had the same and it was pre-compiled (as is my kernel) for 2 speakers only, but that seems not to be the case. To find out exactly what the chipset of your card is: "lspci -v"

You may want to try out the ALSA modules, they're not included in the kernel by default yet, although Mandrake and I think SuSe uses them by default, and they might support your card.

Cheers,

Finegan
