Trying to connect over ttyS0 to a wireless AP

Hello,

I am trying to login to a Planet WAP-4033 access point via serial line with minicom.
It has a linux 2.4 running on a Realtek 8186 CPU.

I can see the system booting, but when I try to login I simply cannot write the word root. Because every letter is written over previous one (the cursor is not advancing). This is the same with password field. After I enter everything it says: "Input Error ! Press any key..."
There is a screenshot at http://www.tadelos.ro/img/snapshot10.png

I got some sorce code for WAP-4035 (pretty similar to this one) and from there I can see that the password for root is realtek.

I do not know if this password is good or not, but I do not know also if that shall be the answer for a wrong password or there is a hardware problem.

Any ideeas ?
