to slow network HP COMPAQ DC7700S

yesterday i received HP COMPAQ DC7700S.
It had Vista with it. Of course i got rid of it and installed Debian Etch.(netinstall)
When i was getting packages from internet i noticed that trasfer speed is very slow
20kbytes/s max!
i tried to tune MTU but it became worse and i set it to 1500 as it was.
freebsd machine with same wire is doing 2.5 mbites/s! when i plug same ethernet cable to this debian box it becomes 20kb.

Problem was solved by adding the following lines:
Code:
 /etc/sysctl.conf
net.core.rmem_max = 52428
net.core.wmem_max = 52428
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 8738 52428
net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 6553 52428
