Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Suse 9.1 w/ Raid

I have installed Suse 9.1 and I have a hardware raid 0. I understand that the 2.6 kernel does not support hardware raid so i installed to a standard IDE drive with the raid disconnected.(the raid has winXP on it) If I then boot the system with the raid connected it goes into a loop saying that it cant read table from hde. hde and hdf are my raid. I dont need the raid when running linux but dont want to disconnected it when i boot linux either. Is there a way to pass a kernel parameter in grub to keep it from trying to check the raid disks.
