strange problem ethernet


Linux redhat AS 4, just last day it was working ok... suddenly my Ethernet card eth0 is unable to ping any lan pc on the same network saying "destination host unreachable", n nobody can ping my system, i hv checked all cable everything found ok...when i ping local address that reply ok..what went worng ?.

plz suggest.

ifconfig eth0 (does it have an ip)

did you make any changes to the iptables rules?

iptables -nvL

Probably you or a program have set one of the icmp settings to disable or enable. Post what /sbin/sysctl -a have printed.

look i hv two Lan card , one of them is working absolutely fine... but one has above problem.

yeah i hv configured it with ip address : 192.168.1.50 255.255.255.0,

output of /sbin/sysctl -a is very big . may i post all ot it ?

output of /iptable -nvL :

I hope both the NICs are on different networks/subnets
