Question Speakers won't work in PCLOS on a HP G62 machine

I have used my machine for the last two years w/o sound in PCLOS just wondering if anyone else has found a fix?

I have an ALSA snd_hda_intel driver installed for the Intel Corp 82801 (ICH9 family)HD audio controller. My programmer son was finally able to get the earphones to work but...

The only thing checked is enable PulseAudio

I would love to find the trick to make PCLOS talk to me through the speakers
Thanks

I have PCLinux 2011 and the same sound card and no problems. If I go to the Control Center, Hardware, Sound Configuration, I do not have PulseAudio enable although I don't know if that will make a difference. I would suggest you log in to a Terminal as root user and type:

Quote:
alsamixer
You will get a new window where you can adjust settings with the arrows on the keyboard. You can also see different options by hitting the F1 key, get system info with the F2 key, etc. Read it before you do anything. Move the right/left arrow to move from setting to setting and the
up/down arrows to increase/decrease.

Angry no change or success

I have done that and nothing changes, actually even the F keys do not work in that program, eg F2 system info - nada!

Thought maybe there was hope but...Anybody else got any IDEAS?
