Thumbs up New installs are lotsa fun!

Hi,
I have found getting the printer, modem and soundcard installed to be a challenge and a unique experience for each. But now my computer runs and so far is a lot more stable than MircoSoft 98, XP, etc.... I like Linux performance a lot! Now I am working on getting my CD-RW working i.e. to burn CDs. It reads but no burn!

Thanks for all the advice and keep on Linuxing!!!!!!

Angry Still can't get Sound

S.O.S.!!!!

i still am unable to hear a thing.
RH detects a "Rockwell International" PCI sound card... but no support.
(it's onboard) Running a 800 Mhz AMD athlon HP if that helps any.
Can anyone help my sound woes?

RH 8 & SB Audigy v1

I was able to get my SB Audigy Gamer working under RH 8 2.4.18-24.8 by simply setting the option in my BIOS to PNP OS=NO.

I am running Rh9. The sound card is detected fine by both sndconfig and gnome - I can hear the test sounds from both of them.

But, I can't hear anything from the CD player. I did get the

"Unable to open audio device '/dev/mixer'."

message which went away after sndcconfig ran.

the voulme settings are also OK.

So, how do I get sounf to run on RH linux ?
