Soft K56 problem---"busy" signal detected


hi friends,
i've a problem and wud be grateful if anyone of u can plz
help me out findin a solution.
I've a connexant SoftK56 Data fax voice modem and im trying to make it
work on Redhat-9 Kernel v-2.4.20-8.It is workin fine with Windows.
When I connect my phone cable into the modem,everything is workin fine
but im not being able to connect to the internet,because everytime
it shows the line as "busy".I'm attaching u the exact message
herewith:

ATZ
OK
ATM1L1
OK
ATDT3222172233
BUSY
..................

plz help me out.

P.S: i've tried all the different phone combinations like
91-3222-172233,913222172233,03222172233

91? 0? Wth country are you in? It seemed like a us number for a moment.. as its got the right number of digits... 322-217-2233? And that would mean dial a 1 in front of it for long distance. But if your in some other country.. nobody's gonna know your phone dialing setup but you. Must have a number wrong somewhere.

im frm india and i thought tht seein one of those comninations i.e 91-3222-172233..u wud knw tht....but sorry for tht..now can u plz help me.

There's a problem with Connexant winmodems. There's a driver, but you have to pay for a full version (a version with limited speed is available for free). Here are the details: http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/

i've already installed my driver from tht site Mara.and after having a look at "hsfconfig --dumpdiag"..i can tell tht the driver is workin fine.now can u help me in anyways.

Which program are you using to dial. Is it possible to use kppp or any other automated dialer?

im usin Kppp.im gettin the dial tone and "modem ready status"....but at the end its not connecting and showin "line busy" .whereas im able to connect thru windows.plz help.

Check if you have /dev/modem. It should ba a symlink to /dev/ttySHSF0.

no mara....my symlink is /dev/ttySHSF0.can u think of anythin else tht cud go wrong???

Maybe it's wrong driver? There are two to choose from...are you sure you have the right one (I just don't know)?
