Suse 9.0 Pro - fixing "modem is busy" problem

Hi all -

I'm using Suse 9.0 Pro. This detects my winmodem fine, but when I try to connect to the net, it gives me a message saying "modem is busy". Hmmmm :-)
It also gives this message when I query the modem (I'm using kppp to try to access the internet).

So, just wondering if someone may be able to offer a fix for this. Many thanks in advance!
