scantv seems to be missing

I am attempting to get my tuner card to work. I installed xawtv, and it says to run scantv in order to find channels, but scantv apparently doesn't exist. The xawtv website /says/ it comes as part of the package.. What else could I do?

fyi, card is a bt848, and I'm running Slackware 10

edit: i assume this will be moved to the appropriate software forum

I know that the worst thing to do when some one is trying to get something
working is to suggest using something else, but xawtv is a little difficult to
set up and doesn't work nearly as well as tvtime.

http://tvtime.sourceforge.net/

It uses a few more cpu cycles than xawtv, but it's super nice.
