Samsung SyncMaster T220 with ATI X1550 PCI-E

Hello there,

I recently bought the Sumsung SyncMaster T220 22inch LCD Monitor.
My Video Card is ATI X1550 PCI-E, and i am using openSuse 11 on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4800+.
ATI X1550 has 2 ports, a DVI and a D-SUB VGA.
I manage to install the ATI Drivers for my Card, and i connect the video card with the monitor thru the VGA port.
The resolution i am using is 1680x1050 pixels and the refresh rate is 60Hz
The problem is that at random times my Monitor (Screen) goes Blank for 1-5 seconds and then it comes back.
Then it doing it again after 1 min, or 1 hour... etc

1)Is it possible that ATI Drivers installs both DVI and VGA sub-systems , to consider conflicts ?
2)Is there a problem with the Resolution and the refresh rate ?
3) X1550-Syncmaster incompatibility
4) Problematic SyncMaster

Well i dont know what to think, i didn't have such problems with my LG Flatron 17 inch.

Please advice !!
Thanks in advance

On my old laptop I had exactly the same problem. However, it occurred both in Windows XP and on linux. Obviously with it being a laptop I wasn't able to change the video card or display to see which was causing the problem. I don't believe that when I first got laptop it ever did it, so either the screen or video card must have developed a fault.

Thanks for the information and the reply.

This is my xorg.conf generated by ATI Drivers

Code:
Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "aticonfig Layout"
    Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0" 0 0
EndSection

Section "Files"
EndSection

Section "Module"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
    Option "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver"
    Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor"
    Option "DPMS" "true"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
    Driver "fglrx"
    BusID "PCI:2:0:0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0"
    Device "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
    Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
    DefaultDepth 24
    SubSection "Display"
        Viewport 0 0
        Depth 24
    EndSubSection
EndSection
I read in another post, that Refresh rate might cause this problem, my current refresh rate is 60hz, how can i change it via xorg.xonf ?
Maybe to reduce it to 55Hz or sth , fix the problem.
Please help

Thx a lot
