restoring a hard disk

Hi All!

I would have a problem, that maybe linux can solve:
-I've got a 160 GB Maxtor hdd
-it has been a Win XP installed to it with 48 bit lba
-after this the disk was used on a system with 28 bit lba
-windows doesn't recognize this and Partition Magic show it "unaccolcated"

-probably something with master boot record? :\
-my question: isn't anything in linux to solve my problem?

-I have a Debian Sarge 3.1 in an other hdd, but I'm still newbie to it

-I've got 110 GB of very important data and I saw already linux making interesting things

-please help!

thnx in advance, themo
