quickcam/gqcam problems

I have a connectix quickcam grayscale installed.

# cat /proc/video/dev/video0
name : Connectix Quickcam
type : VID_TYPE_CAPTURE
hardware : 0x2

# lsmod
parport_pc 28200 1 (autoclean)
bw-qcam 7644 0
parport 25352 1 [parport_pc bw-qcam]
videodev 6176 1 [bw-qcam]

# more /var/log/messages

Aug 23 22:07:33 localhost kernel: parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP]
Aug 23 22:07:33 localhost kernel: parport0 (bw-qcam): use data_reverse for this!
Aug 23 22:07:33 localhost kernel: Connectix Quickcam on parport0

When i start gqcam i can run camera info and confirm that i have a grayscape quickcam, but nothing else. Can't capture and if i try anything it just hangs. It says Speed - Calculating at the bottom. I end up having to kill it.

In /var/log/messages i get these the same time:

Aug 23 22:20:15 localhost kernel: parport0 (bw-qcam): use data_reverse for this!
Aug 23 22:20:18 localhost last message repeated 5027 times

I've enabled EPP on the printer port, yes this is a parrallell quickcam.

Can anyone help me out? I gotta be so close to getting this to work.

Running SuSe 8.2 pro out of the box.

thanks,
Goofee

Please, doesn't anyone have a b/w cam like this? I'm totally stuck here.

I've modprobed the video and bw-cam and all seems well. Yet i can't take pictures, gqcam is just sitting there and showing white. When pressing stop capturing, exit og trying to open an another /dev/video0 or something it hangs. It tries /dev/video by default.

Please help me! I'm running a headache here!

The error "parport0 (bw-qcam): use data_reverse for this!" has me convinced that it's a driver problem. I'm tried to install camstream, and it too hangs when trying to stop capture etc.

Could this issue have been fixed in a kernel upgrade perhaps? Isn't that where bw-gcam.o comes from? The kernel?
