problemd playing dvd

Hi i have a dell insprion 4150 with a combo cdrw/dvd rom drive.

running redhat 9

the problem is it shows up only as

mnt/cdrom

dev/cdrom

so when i throw a dvd in both xine and mplayer say there is no dev/dvd device to access. i am not sure how to configure this to recognize it as both a cdrw/dvd rom drive?

any ideas?

thanks.

the simplest thing to do is to either tell the programs to use /dev/cdrom as the dvd drive or create a symlink:
ln -s /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd
